This was my first week beginning Tot School with Caeden. (Scroll down to my first post if you don't know what that is, or go here.). I think C did rather well, despite his 2 second attention span. I felt like at times I pulled out every activity I could think of due to his lack of attention span. I did not do a great job of keeping to a schedule, but I did use this schedule as a template, and the hopefully once I get things going and C gets used to it, I can make his own.
I introduced a few new activities that I picked up at our local school supply store. Stringing beads was a bit ahead of where he is at. He would rather carry my string of beads around, but by yesterday, he was able to put 2 beads on there. Such progress! Ha! :)
I also bought a peg board that he seems to like. He even used it to drive his cars through. :)
I have been doing a letter of the week, and we are up to the letter "I". He used watercolors for the first time to paint his letter "I". He ended up wanting to use his fingers to paint, so this was still a little bit ahead of where he is. I have an ABC book that I use to store the letters. I cut the letters out, laminate them, punch 3 holes, and then use rings to put the book together. So far he likes to look through to see the letters. I want to make an ABC notebook that has a variety of objects that start with that letter.
Along with our letter "I", C also use cottonballs to paint an Ice Cream cone. I got the activity from here.
Other activities I included this week were "Clean Paint" (from Shannon's Tot School),
Aquadoodle... Magnetic letters on baking sheet...
For some sensory integration I used rice, and different kinds of pasta. I hid some objects in there for him to find, and then I gave him a spoon and bowl to work on pouring and dumping (WARNING: rice will go everywhere!)
We also did puzzles, and I made him a Tot book (go here for Tot Book idea). The Tot book was a great transition activity while I was trying to get dishes washed, or dinner started!
And this has nothing to do with Tot School...but Friday was a rainy day here, so I built C a tent for him to play in. He really wasn't that into it for very long, but he thought it was fun to go in and out!
That's a lot for this post...at least for my first one. It was just a glimpse into some of the things I will be incorporating in our times together while we are at home. I probably will not post as many pictures unless I think others could benefit from seeing them. One week down...more to go!

Hi- I saw your blog at 1+1 and just wanted to say that I LOVED all your activities for your little boy!
They are all very developmentally appropriate and hands-on..love that! Many other blogs I read use way too many worksheets and 2 year olds just don't need them! :)
Thanks for sharing all your good ideas!
Our little ones are about the same age! I can not wait to keep reading and see what else you all do.
As far as your previous commenter, I do use some "work sheet" type activities with Sophie, but only because she wants to and for her it is developmentally appropriate. She asks to do her "activities" many times a day and when she does not enjoy working with materials we immediately stop. There is no right or wrong way to do Tot School, what ever works for your child and you.
Welcome to Tot School. Looks like you had a great first week. BTW I am now following your blog. : )
Nice first week! I'll be sure to pop in again next week, as my little boy is just a few months older than Caeden :)
What fun activities!!! :)and...we also do worksheets at times...as well as Montessori activities...as well as a mix...
Your blog is great :) I can't wait to see what you do next!
It looks like a great week!
Yay welcome to Tot School! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun!
I'm glad you were able to try out the "clean paint"!
Sweet Pea's grandparents have an Aquadoodle and I think it is one of her all time favorite toys. She has played with every time she has visited for over a year.
Hi! I love your website. I host a link up party called TOT TUESDAYS every Tuesday where people share their recipes, crafts and activities for toddlers. I’ve also currently got a giveaway for a Mother Earth scarf at the moment. I hope you’ll stop by:
