Tot School (Week 14)

Caeden is currently 25 months old.

Here's a look at our week focusing on the letter "R"!

We worked on our letter "R" template for C's ABC book. I taped crayons together in attempt to have him make rainbow colors. He wasn't sure what to do with it so he started pulling out the crayons one by one (because that's how they are supposed to be mom!) and then would color. :)

I took a plastic McDonald's cup and poked holes on the top for C to put pipe cleaners in. We worked on color recognition as well as counting as he put them in and out of the cup. C surprised me by wanting to do this activity several times this week.

Here's C later in the week with this activity:

I got out C's Melissa and Doug Shape Sorter which is a favorite:

Here's C in action with the shape sorter:

And again...(this was a favorite this week)

I printed off a "R is for Rainbow" magnet page from here:

For the sensory activity this week I placed cotton balls, a few pipe cleaners, and pom-poms in a bucket along with ice cream scoops to work on scooping...and transferring. I got the idea for this sensory tub from here. We talked about how "soft" the objects were. The bottom pictures are him feeling how "sofe" (how C says soft) they are on his cheeks! :)

Throughout the week I worked on making a lapbook for C to look at that talked about colors. I used Lapbooks by Carisa (Rainbows) for part of it, but am still finding other printable to place in this lapbook.

I've also been using resources from Carisa's Raising Rock Stars Preschool program. You can have access to her Member's Only section for $10 which includes powerpoint downloads, printables, and more. I realize C is not close to pre-school but he really likes going through the powerpoint and working on letters!

I have found a lot of inspiration for this past week, and possibly next week here.

My favorite C moment this week was during some music and movement time! He got out his Elmo/Cookie Monster guitar and rocked out to some music!

On a side note:
I absolutely love Tumblr. It's a great way for me to save and pass on ideas from other moms that are doing Tot School (or home school) with their children! You can follow me on Tumblr to see the ideas that I love!

Also...to see my wish list of tools that I hope to one day have for my times with C...check out my "Tot School Wish List" at the top of my blog! I also have a "Books We Love" tab that shows you the books that C loves to read over and over...and over again!

We are doing R this week with a focus on rainbows as well. Sophie loves doing the RRSP powerpoints too. I have not done alot of the other materials yet, but she asks to do the power points daily (or five times =))

My daughter just turned 25 months old. What a nice economical way to make the pipe cleaner activity. We found a cheese shaker jar at the thrift shop and the girls love putting the pipe cleaners in (toothpicks too). Something we also did was put pony beads on the pipe cleaners. I invite you to come check out my blog if you have a chance.
