Tot School (Week 15)

Caeden is currently 26 months old.

Our letter for the week was "S". We started off painting our letter "S" template that we got from here. I thought we would focus on the color yellow this week as well. As you can see in the last picture, C thought he would try and paint his face. :)

This next activity is a favorite of C's (anything with water). I filled up our kitchen sink with water and then added a few drops of yellow food coloring. I then got out his foam bath letters for him to stick on the sides, a few water toys, and some yogurt cups that I had rinsed out and saved for other activities. He stood here for 45 minutes the other day just transferring toys from one side to the other, setting them out of the sink, and pouring and dumping. I have done this activity before, but got the idea for using the foam letters with yellow water from Delicious Ambiguity.

I also saved a plastic jug to use for an activity. I got out the foam blocks that I got from the Target $1 spot a while back, and pom-poms. I showed C how to put them in the jug, then dump them out. He worked on this activity for a long time as well. He then shook it to hear what kind of noise it made. Dumping them was a bit more frustrating since they all got stuck at the opening, so I had to help. I had a smaller jug to work on big/small...but he preferred the bigger one.

We also used an old wipes box to use with the foam blocks...and then when we were stringing beads he decided to put them in the box too!

Daddy helped C with the matching shapes file folder game.
We got out our building blocks and C made a road for his cars, and tractor to travel on.

C and another Tot (who I watched one day) drawing on our chalkboard. I would have taken them outside, but we have been in excessive heat warnings where we live, so we had to stay inside.

I laid out some colored foam sheets and we used his toy cars, trains, and other vehicles to match them with the right color. He was NOT into this activity...he wasn't sure why I was putting his toys on the foam sheets! Color identification is not his strong suit lately, so I am trying to incorporate more color matching activities.

C worked on puzzles...

and the peg board...

and a little coloring!

Daddy helped C with the Ice Smashing activity that I got from here.

Favorite moments from the week:
C and Daddy swimming...

and having fun outside!

Lots of fun this week! I love the ice smashing. I'm going to try and remember that for next week.

You also reminded of the cardboard blocks that K got for Christmas that have never been used. I need to put those together. LOL

I do the same thing w/forgetting toys I have stored away somewhere! He got those for Christmas last year too...and he usually uses them for a road instead of building. :)

The ice smashing was fun...I should have added some tips on the post like getting a smaller/lighter hammer...and like plastic coins or things that actually sink into the water. I only had plastic toys to use and they all stayed in one spot. Still a good activity! :)

You are the 2nd person that I have seen doing the ice smashing and LOVE IT! I can't wait to try it with my daughter! Fun week! Also I love how you arrange your photos.. how do you do the collage ones?

I use Picasa 3 to make my photo collages...I originally got the idea from the blog Wilson's Ramblings.

You can download the program to your computer and then it will add your photos to the library and then you can make collage's, add text, etc.

I love it!
