Tot School (Week 16)

Caeden is currently 26 months old.
Tot School

ART:
We started our Tot School off with our letter of the week..."T"!  We painted our letter T template that I printed off from here with a Triangle sponge and purple paint (our color of the week).  C did very well with this painting activity, which kind of shocked me!  The shape of the triangle didn't come out well, but I was so excited that C actually did sponge painting without getting it everywhere! :)
While we work on our letter T, I am usually talking with C about things that start with T. I think we covered trains...Trucks...Turtles...Aunt Tracy...Thomas the Train...Tools...and Triangles.

We got out the sidewalk chalk (too hot to go outside) and drew on C's new Little Tikes art easel that I got at a garage sale.  $3=Awesome. :)  Then, he turned it into a "tent". :

Sensory:
C has liked playing with the pom-poms so I got those back out for him this week.  I gave him some measuring cups, and a strainer as different tools to use to practice transferring/pouring/and dumping.  Wearing a bucket hat apparently helps with concentration. :)

Color Sorting/Counting:
I also got out the foam shapes to work on color sorting and counting.  C still could care less about sorting the blocks into the muffin tins, but is getting better at counting.  We are still helping him count from 1-10 instead of him counting, "6...9...10!"  :)
I also printed out these Large Floor Numbers from Confessions of a Homeschooler, that we could attempt to put the numbers in the right order as we counted them.  Yeah...not so much. C could line them up well...and walk on them well. :)

Magnetic Letters and Numbers:
I let C used a cookie sheet to place his magnetic letters and numbers on there.  We sang ABC's while we did this activity since there were a few letter's that he recognizes.  He mostly just throws them on there (hoping they stick) and then will take them off. :)

Play: Tools
I forgot that I had the Melissa and Doug Toolbox Fill and Spill, so I got that out for him to play with during the week.

Family Fun: Tents (C's FAVORITE activity this week!)
Daddy made a tent with C earlier in the week where they read books and had some fun...and then I made one for C .  He did a few of his activities in the tent, he even ate breakfast!
C got this Playhut Lil Explorers Crawl n Play for his birthday last year and he loves going in and out of it and crawling through the tunnels!  He would run out and say "...brise!" (Translation: "Surprise!")
Even his "friends" joined him in the tent. :)
Mom's Favorites:
C loves the show The Wonder Pets,(click on the link if you'd like to hear the catching theme song) and we've always liked Ming-Ming.  My Grandmother made this cape for C.  He will say "cape, cape..Pets, Pets!" which means he would like to watch an episode.  As you can see, he wore it several times this week. :)

That's our week of Tot School! Thanks for stopping by Caeden's Corner!

Love the muffin tin sorting. I still haven't used those blocks. LOL

Kayleigh wasn't much for sorting for the longest time. No she'll do it but only for a minute or two. Sigh...

I love the look on Caeden's face while he is transferring the pompoms. Amelia also has trouble with sorting, though she loves transferring. Another one of her favorites is putting the toothpicks into the shaker jar (she is 25 months old). Not sure if he would be interested, but here is the link to my post where the girls were matching letters on cookie sheets.

Ya'll had a great week! I almost bought the counting shapes at Target the other day and then put them back. I'm wishing I had gotten them now. Will have to make a trip today. I don't mind though...I LOVE TARGET!
