Little Backseat Driver:
On Monday, I took Caeden to a playground. We have not been outside much lately, so he was so excited to go! This playground is located in a neighborhood about 5-10 minutes from where we live.
We were driving through the neighborhood and this red car was tailgating me so bad. I was going 30 since it was in a residential area...and apparently this guy was in a hurry. I kept checking my rear view mirror and as I looked I must have "thought out loud" forgetting that I had a little guy in the back that will repeat everything we say now! FYI: I was not shouting/yelling...just saying what I was thinking in my regular tone. I get nervous when people follow me that close, especially with a young child.
Me: "Man...you need to get off my tail!"
Caeden: "Mane...git awf my tail." "Mane...git awf my tail." "Mane...git awf my tail."
Me: "Okay Caeden, Mommy shouldn't have said that. What song do you want to sing?"
Caeden: "ABC'sss".
Oops.

Little Driver:
We were playing outside yesterday, and Caeden was riding his Lightning McQueen car around while Daddy walked beside him. He saw me sitting on the step and this is what I heard...
Caeden: "Mommy! Look at me!"
So proud of himself! :)

We live in a very wooded area, with long, curvy, hilly roads -- but its actually all residential and the posted speed limit is 25. 90% of drivers around here probably go twice that. I follow the speed limit (it keeps my hybrid in battery mode, besides being well, the law ;)), and I am constantly being tailgated. I've been in that exact same situation of being parrotted, and am now much more careful of what comes out of my mouth, lol =)
So cute, I too have to be very careful what I say while driving, I have 5 little repeaters, and an almost 7 year who will ask me why I said that lol
Yes, children definitely do repeat...and repeat...and repeat--especially those phrases that strike them as funny. And, truth be told, most of our euphemistic swearing and the like is pretty much nonsense words and phrases--made all the more funny by having been heard from a grown-up.
NOw...if you catch him driving in that little car saying, "Get off my tail"...THAT will crack me up too :)
Cute shot!
My girls are famous for saying, "That man needs to learn how to drive". HEHEHE!
