We started out our busy day at story time in our Sneak, Peek, and Read class. Today's theme was: On The Farm. Caeden sat very quietly on my lap almost the entire time. He did (for the first time) start to do the motions to "Open, Shut Them" and then clapped when the song was over. I usually try and make him do the motions but he kind of fights it like, "Oh mom, please don't make me do this!" He even helped put up a picture of a hen on the magnetic whiteboard...with his mom by his side. Baby steps...
I was looking through the packet that we got to take home today and in there was "The Toddler Creed". I have seen this so many times posted in daycare rooms all over. It made me smile. My child is so timid and shy right now that it hardly applies to him. I'm sure one day, it will...but for right now...he is the kid that will run away from kids if they approach him.
For those of you who don't know what "The Toddler Creed" is...here you go!
The Toddler Creed
If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my hand, it's mine.
If I can take away from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it will never be anyone else's.
If I'm doing or building something, all of the pieces are mine.
If it looks like mine, it's mine.
If I think it's mine, it's mine.
If it's broken, it's yours...unless I want it, then it's mine!
Anyway...back to our day! We then headed to the zoo. I was surprised that Caeden was more interested in the animals than I thought he would be. We saw the bears, giraffes, tigers, elephants...all the ones that Caeden would recognize. Right on cue, Caeden would do his best growling impression when we saw the bears...and tigers. He was pretty spot on!
I tried to get him to stand by himself to pose for pictures, but as usual, his radar went off when I left an inch from him. I don't know how many times I need to remind him that I'm not going anywhere! We are dealing with a little separation anxiety, maybe?
So, the zoo was a success today! I am hoping (husband willing) to get a zoo past so we can go a lot during the summer!

Our last stop was to Qdoba's. I had never eaten there, but it's a lot like Chipotle, so I was excited. I didn't even realize that it was Cinco de Mayo! How fitting! :) Caeden even munched on a few bites of my delicious chicken tacos...taking a moment to pick off the shredded cheese off of everything. Definitely my son (picky).
We made it home just in time for nap, and boy, he was in need of a nap! So thankful for friends who also stay at home with their kids, it helps pass the days!
