Caeden is currently 23 months old.
Head to 1+1+1=1 for more Tot School ideas!
We started off our week as usual with our letter for the week. This week were are on the letter "L". There are quite a few "L" words that I wanted to use. We started off with an art project for his ABC book that I have been making. Now keep in mind, I kind of come up with activities that are easy for him to do...and when he gets older, we will keep doing the letter of the week (nothing like reinforcement) but we will do different projects with the letters.
Since I cut the letters out, I wanted to think of something that he could paint, or color that would involved Lines ( I know, a bit weird to say, "L is for Lines!"). I decided to use painters tape that I noticed out in the garage yesterday, and cut a few strips. I placed the strips sporadically on the "Ll" templates. Then C would paint over them either using a brush...or hands, which is what C ended up doing.
**On a side note: I did this activity right before dinner. Lesson learned: Do not do a painting activity when the little munchkin is hungry. He will not listen...try to touch everything with his little yellow hands...and then try to "eat" the paint off the fingers (luckily, his Binky was in his mouth).
I then let the letters dry and then peeled off the pieces of painters tape. This is what is looked like when I took the tape off. I thought painters tape would be easier to peel off instead of masking tape. I have used masking tape before but it was on a larger piece of paper, plus I didn't have any laying around. :)
Being resourceful as I could with the lack of tools I have, I thought what else could we do with the painters tape? I remembered an activity that I did with a group of kids I used to work with that helped them with balance and coordination, or as a teamwork activity.
Now, C does not have a problem with his balance or anything, but the part of the activity I did use, was the part where you put tape on the ground to make lines. You could make zig-zag lines, straight lines, etc. I also noted the large amount of trucks and cars that C has accumulated over the past two years, thanks in part to the grandparents, that were sprawled all over my living room floor. :)
I simply made three different types of lines, and then showed C how to maneuver his cars from one end to the other.
He quickly got his cars and began to line them up and then slowly move them across the line. He was able to keep his cars on the line and then transfer them from one side to the other.
We also went to Story time on Wednesday, and then headed to the zoo with our friends. We saw a lion and discussed (very briefly) about the word Lion starting with L. That was followed by a few of C's lion impressions, "Grrrrrrrrr...". You can read my post about that day here. :)
I also purchased a new puzzle for C that I was really excited about. I LOVE Melissa and Doug products so I was thrilled to seem some in Kohl's. I had just the right amount left on a gift card to purchase the chunky shapes puzzle. C has done such a better job with the chunkier puzzles as they are easier to maninuplate.
I couldn't decide between the Alphabet Nesting and Stacking blocks...and the puzzles! I hope to start building my collection of Melissa and Doug products, and other learning material to use during our Tot School time. If any of you moms have products that you love or would recommend, please let me know!
I still was not feeling 100% during the week, and neither was C. We are dealing with some cold /allergy stuff...which can make for some cranky moments, and changes of plans! I did manage to capture a few fun and silly moments on Friday! :)

hiya. I just began to follow tot school this week. Your little boy is so cute and looks very clever. I have a 25 month old and have not started to show him letters yet but may start soon.
It looks like he had a fun week :)
Great activities. We have a love for Melissa and Doug toys too. She got tons for Christmas last year and every now and then I'll get some at Michaels when I have a 40-50% off coupon. They usually have quite a selection.
Looks like fun. I love the painters tape tracks on the floor! I am also wanting to get more Melissa and Doug items for my DD :)
I love your line ideas! Melissa and Doug toys are a favorite here, too. Kohls carries them, Toys R Us, and even TJ Max. I've even found them at Macys. Great to have a gift card! Looks like a fun week.
