Caeden is currently 26 months old.
Last week I
Tot School Outside:
I got out our water table and decided to add "orange" (color of the week) water to it. I obviously didn't get the right amount of red/yellow to make it look like orange. Instead it came out like dirty water. He kept saying "ellow" anyway. :)
Freeplay:
A trip to the playground:
This trip was a huge deal to me since this was the first time he had gotten on a swing all summer. He liked them last year, but ever since winter he would not even touch a swing. Then all of a sudden, they looked fun I guess! So I was thrilled when he asked, "Mommy, push?"
Alphabet/Art:
I printed off our letter "W" template from HERE. I also thought I had this great idea for an art activity for our letter W. I had purchased a spray bottle (from Target) and thought this would be a new tool for him to use for art. I filled it up with water and then added red/yellow food coloring to make orange. While I was trying it out I noticed that you could see the orange color when you would first spray it...but then as it soaked the paper the color disappeared. So then I decided to try thicker paper...and a little bit of orange paint. It did add a bit more orange color...but not what I was going for.
As you can see in the picture, C had no idea what to do. I thought the trigger would be easy for him to pull, but this activity was clearly way above where he is developmentally. What I didn't get a picture of (obviously if I'm there helping him) is me squatting behind him and showing him how to hold the bottle and then pull the trigger. He did think it was fun when I was helping, but could care less about trying it himself. Notice I have a tarp laying on the floor...so glad I thought of that. :)
I also gave C a few blank sheets of paper and several different orange coloring tools to use/play with. He did really good at trying each tool to make his artistic scribbles. :) He used crayons, markers, and sidewalk chalk.
He also asked for some "puhple" paint. I gave him some orange too. :)
Color: Orange
Last week I had a tub full of yellow ball pit balls...this week I decided to gather up all the orange objects or materials I could find to put in the tub. I used this almost everyday of the week and just allowed him to explore the tub. We talked about the different objects and then I kind of let him decide what he wanted to get out. Of course he had to sit in it as well.
Items in the box: pipe cleaners, foam sheets, pegs, Tonka Chuck cars and Tonka Pick up Truck, Penguin (from penguin bowling), foam bath letters, mega blocks, color matching cards, and a squeaky block.
Using the orange blocks from the bin, he built a "road" for his trucks.
Other activities:
C also asked for the peg board, so he worked on that a few times this week.
Our basement is full of some old toys that C used to play with. Sometimes he likes to get them out and play with them. He was having a good time with this sing-along stage this week:
We sang "If You're Happy and You know It" a few thousand times...and he was hilarious trying to "sing" into the microphone. :)
Mom's favorites from the week:
That was our week of Tot School! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our activities!

what a fun week! I should totally try a colour themed week for my littles, they would love that!
Here from friendship friday, happy weekend!
He is just too cute!
I love the orange water table even if it didn't come out exactly has you'd envisioned. Did it stain his arms at all?
Nope, no staining!
What is it that compels kids to climb into everything? My 14 month old has started doing it. My six year old still does it. kids! =)
I'd be curious to know when using a spray bottle is a developmentally appropriate skill.
Looks like fun!! My little boy's favorite color right now is orange- so he would LOVE all those fun orange activities! :) You are such a good mommy for your little one... you can tell he enjoys his time with you by his sweet smiles!

The weather by us was so much nicer this past week too, but it got hot again towards the end of the week. So nice to get out again though. I see your son really enjoyed his time outdoors! Looks like you had a great learning week.
What a cutie! Looks like he had a fun week!
